Bury could lose a few players in the January transfer window due to the financial troubles of the club according to the manager Kevin Blackwell. Bury are currently struggling in League One, but it remains to be seen if they can afford to keep some of the senior players at the club. The club have been recently placed under a transfer embargo, but the manager is hoping that it will be lifted in January. Blackwell has said that the directors of the club have been working real hard to get the club out of the situation. A number of loan players have returned to their parent clubs, which has depleted the squad even further.
Even though there was a short improvement in form over the last couple of weeks in the month of November, the form has alarmingly dipped in the last month. This has led to the team falling into the relegation battle once again. In order to get out of relegation trouble, Blackwell has said that he needs the presence of quality players who were on loan at the club only a few weeks ago. The dire financial situation of the club means that they have been unable to keep hold of the loan players or make the move permanent.
“We’re being dictated to by a crisis that we should be managing, and the crisis is managing us. Who knows? That’s the problem that the club is in at the moment. The directors are doing what they can but, at this moment in time, I really couldn’t tell you if someone’s coming or going. It was a shock to me when we went into the embargo. I was only told the day before. I don’t know what date we’re coming out [or] if we are coming out,” said Blackwell.
