UNCERTAINTY BREEDS INSTABILITY

Bury caretaker manager Peter Shirtliff has said that one of the main reasons for the poor start to the season made by the club could be due to the uncertainty surrounding his future. Peter Shirtliff has been recently appointed as the caretaker manager of the club after the manager Richie Barker decided to leave the club for Crawley town at the start of the new season. It has put the whole club in tatters according to the caretaker manager Peter Shirtliff. It is not known whether Peter Shirtliff will be appointed on a permanent basis. This uncertainty might be costing the club crucial points at the start of the new season.

Bury have made every book disappointing start to the new season as they are still without a win after having played five matches. They have taken just two points from these five matches, and as a result of it, sit at the penultimate position in the table. Peter Shirtliff reckons that things can certainly turn bad if the club does not sort out his future. It is thought that the board are looking at various alternatives before considering Peter Shirtliff for the permanent position. Peter Shirtliff has not made a strong point for the permanent appointment due to the recent results.

“It’s always a difficult scenario. It’s a no-win situation. We’ve had a tough start. We’ve got two points from five games, which is not good enough. If I’d got four wins out of five games, everybody would be saying ‘give him the job’. What’s concerning me is that we’ve conceded two goals in four games on the spin. We’ve got to keep it tight in our defensive department and we’re not doing that at the moment,” said the caretaker manager Peter Shirtliff after the 2-1 defeat at the hands of Preston.
