BURY SUFFER DEFEAT

Bury were recently relegated to the bottom tier of the football league after the 1-0 defeat at the hands of Oldham. At the same time, it has been revealed that the owners have appealed for fresh investment to the tune of £ 1 million in order to keep the club afloat. Bury manager Kevin Blackwell has revealed that the timing of the announcement could not have come at a much better time. The team will be playing in the League Two next season. The director of the club, David Manchester said ahead of the match that the plea from the owners has had a good response.

The club has been conducting talks, which have been positive, for the last week, and he expects it to extend into the coming week as well. The manager, Kevin Blackwell, has said that his position is not the best because he is unable to plan for next season without knowing the future of the club. Bury will be playing for pride from now until the end of the season. The team has been an opponent of form for most of the campaign, but it is primarily due to the quality of players at the disposal of Blackwell. He has had to sell most of his best players.

“We’ve known this has probably been coming for weeks. I suppose it’s quite apt that it’s come in a week when the whole thing has imploded at the football club. Until the club is saved, there are no discussions to be had. If the directors are right and there are some interested parties, we need them in sooner rather than later. We’ve got no numbers left – we really are at a point where something drastic and quick has got to happen,” said Blackwell after the match.

BLACKWELL WILL STAY

There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the future of the Bury manager Kevin Blackwell. However, he has insisted that he will not leave the club. Bury have been placed under a transfer embargo, which has also put a lot of strain on the financial health of the club. Blackwell has spoken with concern about the financial situation of the club a number of occasions. The 54-year-old has admitted that he has been put on the shortlist of several jobs in the English league, but he is unwilling to leave the club in this juncture.

Blackwell is one of the experienced in the managers in the Championship after having worked with the likes of Leeds United, Sheffield United, and Luton Town. Bury have been placed in a transfer embargo since December after getting a short-term loan in order to cover the cash problem at the club. The loan has been repaid only last week, which will now allow the manager to bring in some players before the end of the transfer window. The club desperately need new players in order to get out of the relegation zone. They are 22nd in the League one table with 26 points on the board. They are just three points away from safety.

“I’ve been shortlisted for jobs but I haven’t gone because I think this club needs a captain at the moment. I won’t walk away unless something else happens that’s out of my control. The people I work for here have been very supportive, the players have been terrific and I’m enjoying the job. Fortunately for us, no transfers could come in or out anyway for most of it. But we identified six or seven players and they’ve already gone,” said Blackwell, whose team have lost the last four matches in all competitions.
