There has been a lot of development going on at the club despite being very poor on the pitch. The club are just a few places above the relegation zone, but Blackwell thinks that they have made incredible strides off the pitch. The club made an incredible 25 signings in the summer, which is one of the highest amongst any English club. There have been several changes made to the structure of the club as well.
Some of the new appointments include a Chief Scout and a fitness coach. The Chief Scout is expected to be responsible for England possible transfers for both first-team and the youth team. The fitness coach, meanwhile, will be looking after the mental and physical development of the players in the first-team. The club are expected to be close to pointing an IT expert, who will be providing them with expert assistance on player analysis, developing DVDs of opposition, and analysing the training sessions through videos.
Blackwell has said that all these additions are expected to make the club be more professional. He has said that the club will be totally different in just 12 months time.
“It’s all about creating the forward-thinking and progressive club we’ve been talking about. Where can the club be? I am hoping that within the next 12 months you will see our philosophy filtering all of the way through the football club, and the progressive steps we are making will become more evident. The chairman (Stewart Day) and chief executive (Glenn Thomas) are so dynamic, they don’t talk about making improvements, they act,” said Blackwell.
On the pitch, though, the League Two outfit are without a win in the last four matches and it has pushed them to the 18th place.
