FOREST GREEN FALL TO LATE DEFEAT

Bury showed character once again for the third consecutive time in the Sky Bet League One as they completed a comeback against Forest Green Rovers, after falling behind in the first half of the game.

Striker Reece James grabbed the equalizer late on in the second half before Nicky Maynard snatched all three points for Bury. Forest Green manager Mark Cooper felt his team should have won the game, saying that he feels ‘robbed’.

Ryan Lowe made no changes to the team that overcame MK Dons in a thrilling 4-3 encounter last time out, his team featuring the inform Nicky Maynard once again.

The Shakers started the better team, pulling all strings in the centre of the park but the Rovers defense held their own. The game’s first real chance fell to Bury on 21 minutes following superb link up play in midfield.

The hosts however, took the lead against the run of play just before the half-hour mark. Forest Green Rovers exploited the right wing once again as Christian Doidge escaped a couple of challenges before drilling the ball to Brown, whose shot went in via a wicked deflection.

The Bury fans must have felt hard done by, by that goal considering how well their team started the game.

The second half began in a similar fashion as the first, as the Shakers were in control of early proceedings. The Rovers defense remained resilient until they were finally undone in the 69th minute.

Byron Moore unsettled the Rovers defense with his blistering pace before setting up O’Shea, who still had a lot of work to do, escaping a couple of challenges before firing the ball past the helpless Montgomery to restore parity.

Another comeback was complete just before full time, with in-form Nicky Maynard latching onto a Moore pass before rolling to ball into the back of the net to settle all three points for Bury.

2019 has been so perfect for Bury so far as they have won every single match they have played in it.
