A 3-point penalty has been slapped on Bury FC for fielding a player who hadn’t been correctly registered.
The process of the registration of the player was fine, but, because of the fact that it was finished beyond the time limit, it happened to be invalid.
Not having the realisation of that, the Bury management used the player, as a substitute in the last match they played in 2015-16.
The illegality of that substitution was picked by the authorities and they came down hard on Bury for that.
Bury has acknowledged the mistake and has decided to show no dissent against the penalty.
The points’ total of Bury has now come down to 57 which means they will be overtaken by Southend United and Swindon Town in the standings of the third tier and will slip to no. 16.
No economic concerns for Bury: Thomas
The account department of Bury recently came up with negative numbers and people felt that’s the reason the Shakers might have been getting so involved in the sales of the players, just to make up for the financial losses.
But, Glenn Thomas who is in charge of all the operations at Gigg Lane says the economic state of Bury is not responsible for the players getting sold.
As per Thomas, gains and losses are just part and parcel of business. All the business organisations, whether they work in sports or any other sector, analyse themselves after a certain time and see what is not working for them and so is Bury. But, it does not mean there is any desperation to have the cash flowing in by transferring players. There is no shortage in budget for the club to easily go through the upcoming season.
