Bury finally managed to put behind their poor form in recent matches by winning a thrilling encounter against Yeovil town. Bury back into the match on the back of a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Sheffield United. The 3-0 defeat meant that Bury were unable to get into the play-offs position when they had the chance to do so. The defeat also ensured that competitors of Bury were able to pull away from the club. However, the 3-2 result against Yeovil town now means that Bury have a real chance of finishing within the play-offs position, and this possibility still remains in their hands.
Bury are currently eight points behind Stevenage. Stevenage occupy the final play-off position and they have 45 points as opposed to the 37 points of Bury. The 3-2 win over Yeovil town, however, was marked by ugly scenes of a penalty brawl involving Bury player Giles Coke. The on loan midfielder clashed with club captain Steven Schumacher over the rights to take the penalty. After the match, however, the loan midfielder apologised for causing trouble during the match.
“I have since apologised privately to the team, the captain, and the manager. When playing my emotions run high, and in my mind following being brought down, all I could think of was getting the ball and making it 3-1,” Bury’s Giles Coke said after the match. “It’s disappointing that it happened like that. For him to pick the ball up and for it to turn out like that is a bit disappointing for me,” said Schumacher. Steven Schumacher scored two goals in the match, while Skarz scored the other goal for Bury. Dickson had opened the scoring for Yeovil town, while MacLean’s goal in the final few minutes of the match ensured a thrilling finish.
